This is mostly going to be personal preference, so people will likely suggest the pieces they like best.
I will say that the 2 peices in my tank that get the most oohs and aahs are my red goni and my pearl bubble (especially when its feeders are out). I think a big favia can be really spectacular though. There are some really nice Lepto colorations. Same with acans and lobos, though I've not had much luck with them.

Although not as colorful, duncans in my experience are very hardy, grow fast, and are cool to look at it. Lots of motion. If you have clowns, a lot of times they will take up residence in them too, like a nem. |

I was going to suggest a Duncan also.
Main problem with a centerpiece is, well... it's in the center. And in a small tank, you really have to be careful with what you put there since from the center it can reach pretty much anything in your tank. So whatever is there... it needs to be peaceful. If the centerpiece is on the sandbed, maybe a big Lobophyllia or Symphyllia. If you have some rockwork to epoxy something to, maybe a Duncan or a Blastomussa. You could also go with a yellow/purple Turbinaria. Those are all fairly peaceful and well-behaved corals that can get showpiece sized. |
