Hitchhiker question

New live rock cycling and in a crack was this green zoanthid looking polyp just peaking out. It was folded in half and all I could see was the edges with short tentacles on the outer edges. It would extend and retract from day to day so I didn't think too much when it was missing for a day then it reappeared in a new location and now I can see it unfolded and it is covered with the tentacles not just on the edges. So do zoanthids move & what could it be?
I tried to post a picture but unable.

Please forgive my ignorance I'm not too familiar with polyps/zoanthids?

Zoanthids only have polyps around the edges. You likely have a pest anemone but without a picture it's impossible to properly ID.

Were you disappointed by the response you got and expecting more?
If so what were you expecting?

A picture would help us identify what you have better than what you have written so far..
There are many "hitchhikers" similar to your description..

It could be a zoa, a paly, an aiptasia, a majano, ball anemone and many more..

As the old saying goes, you get what you give. In the spirit of wild guesses and unsubstantiated speculation it could also be some kind of bivalve .... or perhaps even Jimmy Hoffa. That'd be 'more'.

I could be wrong here, but it sounds to me you don't like the answer more than you don't like the effort.

A lot of people who post pics don't even get a a clear answer, because things are sometimes hard to photograph, and the variety of animals/organisms is crazy in this hobby. If you want a more solid answer, we need more solid evidence. Otherwise, we are giving you potentially terrible advice.

Zoo cannot move on their own. Aptasia anenomes can drift and take hold. They are a nuisance and should be removed. Once we can establish the exact animal you have, we can give you more specific advice

Good chance it is a majano anemone. Lesser chance it is a random Zoa.

Zoas don't move, anemone do.

If it could be a Zoa, read the sticky in the newbie thread about them. They can be dangerous to you health.

Sounds really bad.. I'd restart the tank before they just take over everything..

Pet peeve: anemones host clowns; clowns do not host anemones! Current Tank Info: 450 Reef; 120 refugium; 60 Frag Tank, 30 Introduction tank; multiple QTs
