Question Return pump issue

When I push the feed button on my return pump it bounces around for a while before finally stopping. from what I understand its the pump not letting water back in..I think. What do you guys do to stop it from bouncing around? From what I understand a check valve might be an option but I'm not familiar with tank plumbing.

It is a Jecod DC pump. I believe its 1000gph output not 100% sure on the model.

Ive not experienced this on my DCT-9000 model. Although I do not use the feed button. I simply throw the power switch "Off" during feeing for a couple of min.

Bouncing makes me think check valve. Do you have one plumbed in?

bouncing?
A check valve is never a good solution..

If I'm understanding the problem all that is happening is that the return water is flowing backwards due to the siphon formed.. Anti-siphon holes are the solution to that or raising the return up in the tank..

A siphon will form and the water will backflow until the return piping is exposed to air thus stopping the siphon..

However if I was really specific the problem is really that your return pump/piping isn't mechanically secured to anything thus likely putting stress on the joints/back of the glass,etc...
All my piping is always clamped to the stand or wall behind the tank so that its not just hanging there..

I used these last time..

Can you clarify what you mean by “it bounces around for a while”? Are you saying that the pump or the pipes are physically moving or that the water level is going up and down or what?
