base rock

I ordered the 10 gallon package from tbs. The first shipment is coming in on friday. I have heard about all the life on tbs rock and how it's hard to choose which side to put down in the sand. What i was wondering is would it be a good idea for me to pick up a few pounds of lr from my lfs to use as base rock and put the tbs rock on top?

thanks for your help,
tony

that would work.

I have found that my rocks I got had a side that had obviously been in the sand bed. There were mostly worms and bare parts (but not much!). The 10 gallon package wont really be that much rock so you will probably have a harder time.
