Which salt mix to use?

Dear Dr. Shimek,

Would you please tell me what salt mix you would recommend for my reef tank. I have two a 60g and a 7g nano. Both have mostly LPS and Softies not too many SPS. You can respond to my email adress instead of the board if you don't want to muddy the waters.

Hi Raj,

I don't worry too much about muddying the waters...

Take a look at the Atkinson and Bingman article in Aquarium Frontiers, March 1999, and make your own informed choice.

I really don't think it makes a whole lot of difference. Basically I use Instant Ocean, primarily because it is cheap and does the job.

I noticed your other interests. Do you by any chance brew your own beer? I recently started brewing my own beer once again. Did it in undergrad, but then got busy in grad school.

Hi,

Nope not any longer, I did it all through graduate school and for some time thereafter, but haven't done it for maybe 15 years or so.
