2.5 gallon update - lots of pics

This tank was started in Jan '04 and has gone through three overhauls due to poor plannning as far as coral placement goes, along with a massive outbreak of hydroids and vermetid snails.

Specs:
2.5 AGA
2x18 watt Current Dual Satellite fixture
AC 70 refugium with palm light
25 watt heater in fuge

Inhabs:
Yasha Haze/pistol pair
2 sexy shrimp
1 peppermint shrimp
1 bumble bee snail
4 strombus grazers
2 cerith snails
2 nassarius snails
various corals

Here it is today. Full tank shot.

Right side.

Left side.

Caulastrea and sexy shrimp.

Torch and the other sexy shrimp.

Baby ricordea.

Zoos and strombus snail.

Another caulastrea colony.

Leather...toadstool I think.

1/2" purple M. digitata that I accidently broke of when working in the 30.

Tiny chili coral that hitched in on some rocks. It's got 4 polyps that come out every night.

Micro hermit cleaning up the tank.

Yasha haze/pistol pair.

Can you supply a pulled back shot with a ruler next to it to help show size?

very nice....i see you chose a DSB...

just kidding, but how deep is your sandbed? i know you need a minimum amount for the gobie / shrimp to be happy.

LOL, when I put it in there, it was about 1 1/2" deep. The pistol is very industrious.

Very nice.... everything appears to be thriving in such a small environment. What is your tank maintenance routine? Did you make the canopy, and is the tank open top?

Thanks for the compliments. I really enjoy this little tank.

Kim, you asked aobut maintenence. I do weekly 20% water changes and swipe the glass as needed with a small Twister magnet. The top is open and the riser my husband built to raise the Current fixture up high enough to clear the AC 70 on the back.

gfkIt's a Current Dual Satellite 2x18 W fixture. I just put this on the tank about a month ago. Before that I had a custom built canopy with 2x13W PC's.

scolex So true. Tiny tanks make tiny frags look big.

Super sweet tank, but how do you do a water change with things, torch and zoo's, so close to the top? It looks like you dose with B-Ionic, anything else? Also any shots of your fuge and I'm presuming you have the mini/20 impeller in there?

Looks great Sug !!

May I be so bold as to make a suggestion ?

Put some rubble and broken shells in the tank for the pistol shrimp to use as construction materials. First, it'll keep it from collecting hermit crabs, snails, and frags. Second, it's really interesting to watch them build entrances and hideaways with the pieces.
