Curious as to why some zoos are flat on a rock & some extend long.
Some zoos I purchased came flat but now reach out. Just wondering if it has anything to do with health or lighting. Thanks! Last edited by DaRealDvs1; 01/25/2006 at 09:14 PM. |

IME, lighting will have an affect on that. The lower the lighting seems to make them stretch more. I always just figured that they were "reaching" for the light more. That's just a thought though and I don't know it to be true.

I've found more that it dpends on the zoas. Lighting does have some effect, but I have some zoas that went from normal length stalks (relatively short, but not plastered to the rock) to about 2.3-3" under our 400W halides (coming from 192W PC). But I've also noticed some colonies do the opposite under the halides.
I think its more of a combo of flow and light, but I couldnt tell you what did it for some zoas. |

I also have some the are extended and some that are flat.. I agree with tekk and CoralNutz.. lighting has something to do with it but that's not all.. maybe flow also... I think that that's just how they are.. anyway, it's good to have a variety anyway..
