sps and lps
Hi guy's is it ok to keep lps and sps in the same frag tank or should they be kept seperate because of chemical warfare.Just wondering what would be better 2 tanks sharing the same sump or is it ok to keep together thanks in advance,mike

no, they should be fine; I dont believe there would be any chems released, that is only from softies
the LPS corals have sweeper tentacles that engage the enemy, and as for SPS, they just grow fast, so they can overgrow or get away from whatever coral is bothering them my .02 |

you should be allright if you give them room. if you get them too close you will see some alleopathy (chemical warfare). some LPS can get some long sweepers that can pack a punch. just give them room to grow and you should be allright.

hardly any sps releases toxins in the tank. even for lps, i can't think if any currently. if you keep leathers, do be wary, that they do release toxins (sarcophytons) like devil's hand, fingers, and some colts. in order for them to "annihilate" your tank, you needs lots of them in your tank, so i' won't be so worried. but running carbon is always a good practice, or ozone will be a good choice too.
