Sargassum Trigger
I just bought a Sargassum Trigger about a month ago. Sometimes he just sits on the bottom, is this normal behavior for triggers? He eats everything I give him and he doesn't seem sick, just bored......

Sargassum Trigger or Red tail trigger aren't the most aggressive triggers around and can be kinda of shy, it's good that's it eating as that can be a problem with them. So unlike other triggers they may hide some what or not be as active out in front. All triggers from time to time will lock themselves in the rocks and not swim that much.
Check your water and make sure the conditions are good, low nitrates.

I checked my water it was perfect. He is fairly active, but sometimes he sticks his trigger up and sits upright between the front glass and a rock.

That pretty common for triggers, make sure he has some caves or spaces between rocks where he can go into and lock himself in.

My Pinktail does the same thing, just looks bored sometimes....LOL
I just put some CC in a glass bowl because my tank is BB, & for days it has entertained itself with that. Moving the CC out of the bowl, rubbing in it & even biting the glass... I guess what ever floats it's boat. My Pinktail is in my 300g, I see you have a " 540 gallon with a 200 gallon sump under construction", so it may do the same in that tank..... I Put Nori on a clip sometimes (I feed Nori Daily) just so it can be entertained tearing the clip in 3 or 4 pieces....LOL Kaye

I'll post pictures of the 540 as soon as they deliver the tank.

thats normal for triggers to do, i have kept many and have seen all of mine do it except for the rhinecanthus species, these ones always stay front/center in the tank.
how much rock do you have?

I only have about 50 pounds in the 65 gallon, the 540 will have a whole wall built up on the back.
