3/4" sea swirls and a couple of tanks for sale

Well I am trying to clean up my fish room to give me more space so I have a couple of items I want to get out of the room.

First are two new (haven't even opened them yet) 3/4" Sea Swirls. Asking $145 each or $280 for the pair.

New 16 gallon tank (same dimensions as a 10 gallon, but only taller). I was going to use this as a sump for my 54 corner tank, but it will not allow me enough room to get into it. I picked this up at F&F just a few weeks ago and it still have the cardboard around it. I paid $29 plus tax, will sell for $25.

~30 gallon tank (26x16x19) with three holes drilled in the back (one in each of the top back corners and one in the center back) for closed loop. I will also include the bulkheads for the holes (I believe they are 3/4"). Back is painted black. $50

All items are for pick up in East Haddam (06423). I would be willing to ship the Sea Swirls if needed (at buyers expense) but not the tanks.

Thanks,

Keith

Argi,

I am speechless; I went to your gallery and saw your tank!!!! Wow!!!

If you don’t mind, can you describe your tank? What type of filtration system you are using? Protein Skimmer? Lights? Refugium/sump? How old is the tank and corals? Feeding? Water changes?

I am currently setting up an 180g tank and I am in the planning stages. My goal is to make a tank similar to yours…

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortuntately that tank is no more . I had to get rid of everything when I moved from CA to CT.

At the time the picture was taken, the tank was about 5-6 years old. Almost all the corals (maybe 90%) were grown from frags from fellow reefers. The "center piece" of the tank was grown from a 3" frag to what you see in the picture (it covered about 2' side to side and 18" front to back). Almost all my corals went to friends in CA before I left with the hope that eventually when I get my new tank up and running they will send me frags.

The tank is/was a 135 (72x18x24) with a single corner overflow. The first 3-4 years of the tank it was lit by five 5 foot VHO and then I upgraded to three 250 watt SE MH (run by IceCap ballasts) with Hamilton 14K bulbs. I used three 5 foot VHO actinics to supplement the bulbs (I like blue ).

For a skimmer I used an AquaC EV180 driven by a Mag 7. For a sump I had a 30 gallon glass tank. Initially I used a Mag 12 for a return pump, but for the last 6 month of the tank, used a Mag 18. I had a 29 gallon refugium with caulerpa, seagrass and mangroves. I used a Maxi Jet 1200 to feed the fuge and it gravity fed back into the sump.

Feeding and water changes were sporatic. I am not a big feeder of the fish themselves. Somedays they would get fed 2-3 times and then sometimes they would only get fed 2-3 times per week. I ocassionally used a couple different corals foods, such as DT's oyster eggs and Liquid Lifes BioPlankton, Coral Plankton and Marine Plankton. But none of these were on daily basis. I would be really good for a week or two and then not feed for a few weeks. Water changes were the same way. I would go from once a week doing water changes, then nothing for a few months.

I also used a K2R calcium reactor on the tank. I also toyed with kalkwasser, but that was once in a great while.

Hopefully that didn't bore you too much . I am in the process of setting up a 220 (72x30x24) and hope I can accomplish similar sucess with the new tank.

Thanks,
Keith

Thanks for the detailed information. I was wondering what type of substrate you are thinking about purchasing? DSB?

I am not a fan of DSB in the main tank, but I also do not like BB. I usually keep a small layer of sand (varies in depth through out the tank from 1/4"-1" deep). I have used southdown, but was not real happy with it (almost too fine for my likes and my fish would cause sand storms too frequently). I ended up using mostly Caribsea Grand Bahama Biome (http://www.carib-sea.com/pages/produ...aragonite.html). Nice mix of a few larger crushed shells and a nice white sand.

Thanks for the offer Tom..I will let you know. At this point it is just me being lazy. I just have to cut some pieces of PVC and glue them (ahhh yes..nothing quite like the smell of PVC glue to kill some brain cells ). Tom how is the cube tank coming along? We need some more pictures.

Oh yeah...and an update. Sea Swirls sale is pending, tanks are still available.
