Cool Slug!

I've been seeing this slug for the last year or so, but only at night and it's deep in the rocks so I can't get a good look at it.

Well, tonight it was on the back glass so it was easy pickins! According to Melev's ID page it's a Stomatella, a good cleanup slug. It has an iridescent half shell about the size of my thumbnail, and moves pretty quick. Cool stuff. Here he is on a dinner plate:

Ahh so thats what those are, I have 2 crusing my tank, they seem to love living behind my powerheads and only coming out now and then to munch algea. They sure can move fast when they want to though.

They are really nice- good eaters and they don't bulldoze. Reproduce like rabbits also! Sometimes after dosing kalk, or adding FW, you will see them "smoking" as they spawn. Stress seems to induce it.

I've only ever seen the one. Maybe I only see one at a time?
Maybe that's the reason I don't have any babies!

Could be! Happy to give yours a friend at the auction. I have them cruising all over now. They really took off while my 80 went through its cyano stage.

Sounds good Olin. Now that I know what it is, I would love to see more.
