What to feed?

Hi,
I am asking about what to feed my clownfish for it to help the piar breed and for it to grow..Right no the pair is about 1 and 1/2 inches one slighty bigger than the other and its the 29gal with pink tip hammer coral..Thanks for the help

I'm the wrong one to ask but I'll tell you my experience... my 18 gal runs a little cool, about 76-77 degrees. My red saddles started fairly similar, size and color. One got noticeably bigger and darkened up really dark. Never mated though. Once the hurricane hit and the power was off for so long, the temp raised up to 81 degrees, and the big one started beating up the little one. I believe it was actually mating behavior. Power was off 10 days, and they never did mate. I'll actually be getting rid of them soon, since we wanted a spawning pair. Had em since may last year.

I use "prime Reef" flakes.
They love the stuff.

But they're picky! They won't eat it if it's been in the water for more then 15 seconds. Maybe the flavor changes?

I feed my pair of GSM clowns mysis, cropped up shrimp and scallops and Formula 2...they will also eat pieces of the nori when my trigger rips it up...I think they are going to mate soon if they havent already b/c they have been pretty aggressive towards my flame hawk lately where they ignored him b4...and the female has been spending a lot of time out of the anemone in the rocks....only time will tell

Richard, there is no particular food that will make your fish breed, it is more about their environment and if they are ready and comfortable to breed, I suggest you read about this in the clown and anemones & the fish breeding forums.

In the past, feeding them heavy with fresh frozen foods has worked for me. I'm talking about 6 plus times a day. You also need to keep the temp alittle on the higher temp side. THis is my observation. Takes a lot of time to keep the water clean feeding that heavily. Your main public library should have books on the subjectJOHNNY

If you really want to see your fish grow, then feed a wide variety of foods rich in protein, and omega 3 fatty acids, this should come from a combination of flakes, nori, fresh seafoods, and other commercial foods such as spectrum pellets, I NEVER GET STUCKED WITH THE SAME FOOD. Can you imagine if your mon gave you corn flakes only every day!
Oh, also try feeding 5 or 6 times a day, very small portions rather than one or two times, I use an eheim automatic food feeder and you can set it two throw food 8 times a day, I use all 8 times plus I feed a sheet of nori every day and every other day I will do my own food formula.
