Pick the Winner!

Here are the pics I sent to the #1 most prestigious photo contest in the world. Would you believe, out of the 1st group of pics I sent in (about 5 years ago) I placed as a finalist, out of thousands?!

Jellyfish

Cave Light

Clownfish

Post Larval Stage Surgenfish

Swimming Queen Angel

Coralbanded Shrimp in Green Star Coral

The Wave

None of those pics have placed (yet). The funny thing is, the one that place 5 years ago, I wasn't going to enter. Someone else w/a better eye than myself told me to enter it. Which is your favorite? The Coral Banded Shrimp won the MASNA Calander Contest but I liked others I sent in better.

Good job with using a polarizer (picture - best friends). What equipment are you using?

Can you guys see all the lil fish inside the cave? I was afraid folks wouldn't.

What's a polarizer ?

Some of the pics are w/an Nikonos 5 & Velvia film, some are w/an Olympus 5060, housed in Ikelight.

Sorry Pufferpunk, I truly though you used a polarizer in that particular picture. As to what a polarizer (lens filter) is can be a bit complicated to fully explain. Overall they are used to reduce light reflection in subjects and their surroundings which enhances color saturation and sharpness. Either way, awesome images.

I like them all, but two pictures are clear winners in my eyes. They would be the Swimming Queen Angel and Best Friends photos, because they seem to have the best color, sharpness, detail, and composition. Well balanced, good DOF, good light quality, good contrast, etc. Anyways those two are my favs.

They are all simply gorgeous pics, but if I had to choose my favorite(s), "Swimming Queen Angel," "The Wave" and "Bobblehead" stood out the most to me - oh, and "Bonaire Sunset." Awesome work!

I like the sunset, it reminds of vacationing in the carribean. My only comment on that pic is the almost too obvious flash hitting the flower on the left. The leaves on the plants on the right are beautifully darkened because of the dusk but the flower is (I think) too lit up for the setting. But again, preference is personal.

Nonetheless, the pics are great. I like the wave, I think, the best.
