berghia nudis (aips eating nudis)
So I've counted about 18 nudies in my nursery and I'm sure there are many more that are hidden or too small to see. Plus, I have about 10 egg rings at different stages. I'm going to harvest the nudis I can see/harvest for my display's use. What grows after that will be sold at next month's meeting. I WILL NOT SHIP, DO NOT ASK. I wont sell before the next mtg either because they would be very young/small/delicate. MTRC & Chatt members are welcome to reserve some if you coordinate with the folks that routinely travel to/from here.
They are NOT the aips eating machines they originally were hyped to be but I'd say each one will eat at least one aip per day. You don't want too many because they'd starve out quickly, and you don't want too few so that they don't keep up with aips reproduction. If you are infested with big aips like me, I'd recommend Joe's Juice first as the nudis prefer the young aips. It's not a good idea to use Joe's with nudies present cause they could try to munch on the dying aips. I obviously cant guarantee how many I'll have in 4 weeks but I'd estimate 20 or more, could be twice that. I'm selling for $10 ea, SPS/ZOA frag trades welcomed.

I may have 10ish not spoken for. I can easily sell them on RC for $15 + shpg so I'm not worried about that. If you want them let me know. I'd personally trade the good kind of pep shrimp for them any time. At least I'd be able to see them sometimes whereas I have never seen a nudi in my display except the time I was blowing off the rock with a powerhead and it went through a penductor.
So for the club's ref; some of these nudis like to sleep on the water/air/surface column. That means down the sump in layman's terms. fricken/fracken... some like to stay in the rocks and you'll never see them again (esp in a 300). Some in my 20g breeder prefer to roam the glass for baby aips in my breeder and they lay eggs on the glass which can be collected and raised (If you had the time and dedication to do so). IMO, they are hit and miss with a high flow tank, probably better in a lower flow tank. Best for low flow tanks that are not pulling max through their overflow/sump. That said, and all fully explained, I've seen some reduction in aips in a really-high flow tank since their introduction.

Randy, just one in a 125? I guess you dont have an outbreak. Got you down.
Zack, depends on the number of aips. Not more than 4, more likely 2 which will give a chance for natural reproduction. They will likely lay eggs but survival in a tank for the babies could be 1:10 or 1:50..? Mike, got you down.

Don, can you put me down for a few? I've neglected my cultures, but the aips are still growing. I guess ~6 if you have them, or egg rings are fine too.

Don, I don't have any in my 125... I've been really lucky... But my Aquapod came with some... I didn't want the poor guys to starve, so I figured one would suffice... Do you think I should get another??? If so, just jot me down for one more...
