Leather Coral

Ok. So i have this leather coral. It's kinda like a Toadstool looking leather coral with the flat, orange top and white shaft. Anyways, iwoke up today to find this black path on the top of this. It doesn't cover everything, a small path that runs through it. When i got home from the gym today there was more. And i moved it around and looked at the base and there seems to be a part of the base that has almost been removed. Ideas?
