mangroves

Can I prune my mangroves from my fuge? They are getting to tall and I would perfer to cut off a few inches. Will this kill the stalk or will it merely grow new leaves? Also, can i use the cut section and place it in water and have it produce new roots? This way I would add more mangroves over time. Any thoughts or ideas from others trials and errors will be welcomed. Thanks, Chris

If you can get on the search function, it seems I remember a ReefCentral thread on mangroves a few years ago that said you cannot prune mangroves. But if it's outgrowing your tank, why not try it? What else can you do?

I was thinking the same. I never heard of them rooting from a leaf clipping. Interesting to know if they do.

I think you have to use clippings, not just leaves.
