Eggcrate cover for Fairy Wrasse tank

Will an eggcrate over i.e. sitting dirctly on the lip of tank suffice to keep Fairy wrasses from jumping out?

The tank is a 120g 4x2x2 and will house sps and fairy wrasses (not all added the same time). The lighting will be RO3 pendants, but starting to think about Lumenarcs as well.

No, eggcrate is not good enough. Some fairies and most flashers can go through it or get stuck in it. Fairies WILL jump. Not IF, but WHEN.

depends on size then, as my 5" pink margin is 'much' too thick for eggcrate to be a problem

I have an eggcrate over my 55 gallon fairy wrasse dominant tank and I have't had a jumper yet, but the smalle fairies might be able to get out.

yes, the large ones simply cannot get through. The small ones either can get through or get stuck. But it is better than nothing for sure.

Cool

At the store I work at we keep tons of wrasses, they jump all the time. I'd imagine many of them could fit through eggcrate, I've seen them jump out through small openings in the lid before.

Adult fairies can't get through. Only small juvies would even be close.

You dont see squares, but you definitely lose a lot of intensity. I think an enclosed hood is a better option.
