Hey Sean, I have some Lava base in mine. I got some of it from Aquarium shop but most of it from TN. It adds a lot of color to my tank until CA starts to grow on it. It is very light for the size pieces you get so it costs less and it has a TON of holes for great bacterial growth. I don't use to much of it though just in case of leaching but all of my stuff is reef safe.

Some people say that Lava rocks are high in phosphate, but I am not sure since I never used one.
I recall some people here used some reef bones with good results. Ebay seems to have some dealers selling reef bones inexpensively. I thought either That Fish Place or Drs. Foster and Smith listed reef bones and other similar live rock alternatives. Tomoko

Hey everybody!
I've finished the canopy for now.Mariner,I found the fixtures at lowes.I mounted one of them in the lid so all three fit easy and I have more room in front.Works great!Im still playing with different bulbs though.I now have three marine glow actinic's and three 6500's.Looks ok but a little washed.Any ideas?I still hope to switch to MH when funds permit. Thanks guys! Buzz |
