The collection cup is above the tank, it would be visible above the tank. I think it would work very well for 100gals.

So your suggesting the Reefpack 500?
It says that "the Reefpack can be fitted almost invisibly below almost all aquarium frames." Are we talking about the same thing cause you mentionned that the cup would be visible. Thanks

Yes, but that is typical Euro frames and caps- Jewel brand aquariums for example. The frame is similar to baseboard molding and is about 2.5" high. The cup is very short and will fit under a canopy or be hidden behind tall trim or melamine wraps used on european aquariums.

If I chose the Reefpack,my understanding is I wouldn't have to buy the osmolator to top off evaporation or would I ? Also why do you recommend it rather than model 9010 for example?

Well, the Reefpack is complete, including the osmolator and you specifically asked about that unit. I think if that will be your only filter it is better to have the versatility it offers over just using a 9010 skimmer. With the reefpack you can use carbon or resins and you get the osmolator. You could upgade the skimmer on the reefpack to a 9010 by buying the bigger pump and skimmer cup.

So I wouldn't have to buy an osmolator, I would basically have all I wanted?

Yes, but I would see no reason not to, you can use just about any media in it you can imagine (except very fine resins) and it will only be of benefit if you maintain it properly.
