my alkalinity is high... about 12. im not seeing good PE on my sps and a slight loss of color in newer lps colonies. how can i lower it? my magnesium is 1250 and my calcium was a little low at 425 i believe. i added a bit of calcium but havent noticed any improbements...

The alkalinity will drop on its own given some time. That's not high enough to cause any problems, in my opinion, so I'd look elsewhere for the cause of the coral problems. The recommended range is 7-11 dKH, and so 12 dKH (I'm assuming dKH) is not that bad.

I agree that it is not a concern, assuming that means 12 dKH and not 12 meq/L. It is not a reason for LPS corals to loose color. I usually recommend 7-11 dKH, but a bit higher is not usually a problem.
