Quick question for wavebox... plz help

ok i just bought a 6212 wavebox and my ? is that does this box get submerse under the water or does it go to where the box has a water line on the top? How does it fill back up when off from the top or at the pump?

the box shouldn't be completely submersed, I would keep the water under the blue wavey line. Also, it draws water into the box when the pump stops during the pulse i blieve.
