Lemon Peel Angel Ruptured Eye?

My lemon peel had a swollen eye - (probably secondary to the ick that I am treating for). It looks like it has ruptured and there is a flap of tissue (lens?) hangin from the eye. The eye looks OK other than its lost its outer clear lens?

Any chance this will heal or will the fish be blind in that eye?

I have him in QT treating with coppersafe for the ich and now maricyn and he is looking better.

I did fresh water dip him (ph/temp adjusted) and it dropped several white round parasites. Some were larger than I would have expected maybe as big as a lower case o in normal newspaper print - others smaller. Are these some sort of fluke or other worm? Is it too big to be ick drop off? Could it be dead scales? This dip was after about 3 days of copper so I was supprised to see the drop off.
Perhaps I need to increase the copper level?

So to summarize my questions:

1) Is the fish blind in that eye or can it recover? Any special treatment?

2) Should I treat with something else than copper for the parasite / ich and maracyn?

Thanks

Brian

The fish is eating and appears to have site in the eye but it looks wrinkled. No opinions?

Fluke falling off the eye would be a good guess. You need to monitor the copper levels to be sucessfull in its treatment. It has a fine line to be theraputic. Is the QT cycled? Popeye can be a result of poor water quality but 1 eye is more likely a injury. Use the antibiotic at double strenght for SW. Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks for the info.

The maricyn I bought is labeled specifically for saltwater - they also sold a freshwater version but I have no idea what is different about it. (if anything)

One difference was in the dosing directions. Since it is labled for salt water I have been following it. Do you still think I should double it and why?

I have been testing the copper level and since I have some rock rubble in the QT I have been adding extra to keep the dose up. It would be sad if I dosed enough to make the fish miserable but not enough to kill the ick. Trying to avoid that.

I have always read the disease gurus recomend to double the dose of antibiotic is why I passed on the info. I guess kinda like when a person gets sick the docter sometimes will tell you to double up the dose at first to get in your system faster... and SW makes anibiotics harder to be taken up by the fish I have read. I hope the fish all do OK and the copper kills all the problems!

I've used Maracyn (freshwater) for healing popeye and cloudy eyes with great success. I just followed the dosage on the packaging.

I have an Asfur angel who also had an eyeball rupture. The rupture and swelling and cloudiness were all heled up in a few days using Maracyn (in a quarantine tank). His vision is completely normal.

Great to hear, hope I (and the fish) are as fortunate.
