I would like to get some selene vomer (lookdowns) if I don't win some I still want to get some.

Does anyone here have any experience with them?

Thanks

I'm surprised no one here has kept these fish, they are magnificent!

A LFS had a pair in a 300g tank. Their faces would get pretty beaten up from constantly swimming into the glass. To me this suggests they need a huge tank. There was a thread recently. Someone who keeps them mentioned they are susceptible to ich.

Had one in a clients 500gl fish only tank and it rubbed its face and eyes up pretty bad in the tank. They probably need a huge cylindrical tank >1000 gls to be happy. They are an open water swimmer.

Do you think curved inserts on the ends of a tank would help?

my lfs has a few of them is their 5000 gallon cylindrical shark aquarium, they have been living there for years with no problems, this is probably the best way to keep them

I tried to keep a few in my L-shaped 210 gallon and I too feel they need a very large tank unless you are getting them small. Mine did exactly what folks have mentioned (Tank bumping and scratching themselves on ornamental coral).
