I am curious as to what type of egg crate ws used. typically folks use white, I know there is a silver mirror type crating. have you by chance checked different types of create? ie white, black, silver, $25 HD type vs $5 type.

The egg crate that I used was the standard $5 HD type. The squares are pretty small, only about 1/2" across in diameter and white.

Here is a picture of some of the eggcrate that I turned into a holding rack after the study:

After I submitted the article I heard that eggcrate can be used to focus light from metal halide bulbs too, but the eggcrate used for that has holes that are 3" across in diameter and the surface is coated in a silver reflective material. But the person that told me this didn't have any numbers on if it was effective or not.
