marine safe epoxy

Does anyone know of another brand of epoxy, like Mr. Sticky http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...c=1&N=0&Nty=1, that maybe purchased at like a Home Depot or Lowes?

Yes there is. At home depot it's called Aquamend. I use it prodigiously, not a single problem. I know of several local reefers who use it. It's not the best to hold large amounts of weight, so I wouldn't anchor big rocks with it, but it's great to make a cave out of small rocks, or use it to affix coral to rock.

Aquamend. It comes as a stick, and the outer part is green. Can't miss it.

Completely agree on all respects except one: You may want to buy out their on-shelf stock, as you'll end up using a whole tube before you know it. A few little pieces on those frags that are always getting tipped over, that wobbly rock on the right, etc... I always tend to walk out of their, no matter what else I'm buying, with a stick or two.

I have used it too. It's tricky to get used to, but works nicely once you get the hang of it. Bought mine at lowes

Use it in combination with super glue gel. After kneading the epoxy, add super glue gel to the sides that will stick to whatever you are gluing. Holds even better.

Thanks for the replys. Yep I've used Aquamend.

Actually, I'm not using epoxy to attach frags to rock. I have a current usa dual stage chiller. The fitting for the heater keeps leaking. I tried teflon tape & silicone. So it's either the epoxy or PVC glue next. I will place a heater in the sump. Water will find it way thru the fitting. I now know I should have gone with a single stage chiller. The chiller is not in warranty.

Ah, I see. Have you considered Marine Goop...built an entire DIY 5 foot skimmer with the stuff...many less than tight fittings.

Aquamend will cure even underwater. I hear Wal_Mart sells a similar product that's less expensive.

just recently had to find some reef safe epoxy myself. found some stuff at home depot called pc-plumbing so i contacted them to see if would be safe to use and they suggested using their product called PC-11.

http://www.pcepoxy.com/pastepoxies/pastepc11.asp

they said it's completely safe and i think it's in the form you want. i.e. not a putty, but rather a paste.

i think i saw this at home depot or lowe's as well.

hope that helps.

ps just so you know, make sure it's completely cured before using in you tank.
