declining torch coral

To begin, i've had my torch coral for 7 mons now and everything has been great. Recently I noticed one of its heads was shrivled and looking horrible. I noticed a whelk later that night feeding on the torch so I promptly removed it. I thought that may have been the prob but the head kept declining and has now lost all of its tentacles and has enclosed itself in a clear sac. Also, some of the skeleton is exposed. Now I looked in this afternoon and it seems like the clear sac has moved over to the head next to it and is now covering about an eigth of that head and the entire head is shriveled. The other 3 heads look fantastic. What should I do? Should I cut off the dead head? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

The "clear sac" sounds like brown jelly.
