dead shrimp

I put 2 Peppermint shrimp in the water yesterday, along with various hermit crab and snails as part of a cleaning crew.
All that was left of one of the shrimp this morning was just a shell , deader than dead!!!!
Is there anyting i should do with the water? Is the dead shrimp goign to affect water quality?

thx

Sounds like a molt! If not, i'm sure the body won't be around long enough to foul the water if you have an adequate cleanup crew.
You might want to hold off for awhile before you add any other shrimp. They aren't as hardy as hermits and snails and not a good candidate for the initial cleanup crew. Oh, and sorry for your loss!

got it...sorry , but english is second language....never heard of molt before.
i guess it mean that the shrimp will reappear at some point in time in the future?
How about the Hermits...how will they find a bigger shell, since there ae none in the aquarium? should i get some at the LFS at some point in time?
Can you see i have no clue what i am doing with this aquarium thing??? LOL
hopefully i will learn something..

Oh brother! It's probably best to research these things before you throw anything LIVING in your tank. Oh well, I guess it's too late now. In any case, yes, you need to go to your LFS and pick up some empty snail shells for your hermits to move into if they grow out of their current ones. Then you might want to slow down and read up on saltwater fishkeeping before you start adding anything else to the tank. Feel free to ask away on these boards if you have any other questions. Good luck!

Yes that is the plan anyway....do not want to kill any critter.
BTW, you guys were right, both shrimps are alive and well, just a bit shy
