Rhyzotrochus Typus

Any info on this guy is greatly appreciated. Been feeding it sliversides, mysis, artic pods, scallops, etc...

I have mine on the far corner by itself. I have seen it open up to the sizes of a softball. I had this bad boy for about 4 months now.

very neat looking - is it a high care coral? high/low light? requires food?

I googled around and couldn't find much other than some cool photos!

They come from deeper waters in Japan which even there they are rare and harder to get.

As far a info on them medium lighting, medium flow a varied diet. If you have shrimp, watch it when feeding them as they will actually reach in and steal the food out.

I have three of them, one I've had for over a year.

What an odd looking coral. Almost looks like an anemone and tubinara crossed. huh...interesting.

I have heard of them growing babies but have not witnessed this or seen any pictures to support this. I have heard of them being fragged, but have no idea on the reproduction rate. Information on them is sketchy, even in Vernon the only information available on them is a picture.

I can't post pics but I have one that has babies. They don't split but rather branch. I am waiting for mine to get a little bigger before I frag. I will let you know how it goes when I do.=)

Interesting. Branching rather then splitting. I can't seem to imagine that with the sizes of this coral. Thanks for the info Vamp and Jen. I would love to see the branching pictures. What were the feeding schedule, food, and how long did it take to see the initial branching.
