I am interested on these fixtures, but i would like to see and get more info regarding pricing and reviews before i commit. I am currently leaning toward the aquactinics 36" tx5, but i would like to find out more about the ati, because I "hear" these give a run for the money.

Wow, I still can't believe how long it's been for these powermodules to become available. I don't have any interest in them (more interested in the Sfiligoi Stealth or Korallen-Zucht LED+T5 computerized fixture) but I do feel badly for you guys who have placed an order for them. I could have crossed the Atlantic on whale back and walked to Germany by now.

Well, they (some 48" and 36" models) have actually been here for about a month. However they came in w/o individual boxes and Greg can't ship them w/o a ups approved box because of liability.

I almost did a local pickup on mine when my wife went to LA a couple of weekends ago, but it didn't work out and now I'm on vacation so I told Greg not to ship mine until next week (provided the boxes have come in).

This was the information I got 6 months ago, not sure still true or not, but it'll give you a ballpark:

For a limited time the prices below include your choice of bulbs.

ATI 48" Powermodule: 4-54W T5 HO Fluorescents ~ $489.00

ATI 48" Powermodule: 6-54W T5 HO Fluorescents ~ $719.00

ATI 48" Powermodule: 8-54W T5 HO Fluorescents ~ $929.00

I'm so jealous. Waiting for my 10-bulb unit.

James, do you plan to hang it so it can be raised and lowered easily, like with a pulley system? Or better yet, is it packaged as such?

Dude,

It came with a griplock type system for suspending it. I'm not suspending mine as I sits over my BowFront (which is recessed into a entertainment center/bookcase) perfectly.

I'm sorry I can't post pics now as the 125k limit here on RC has defeated my attempt to do so for now. I will try and resize them tomorrow.

Man this thing is high quality. The fit and finish and heft are typical of German high-end equipment. It absolutely blows away my old 8-bulb Teklight and Maristar in build quality and output. The 4 little fans also run dead silent which is a welcome change from my Maristar (which sounded like a helicopter's turbine spooling up)!

By the way, if your new tank is 60", you should hold out for a 60" PowerModul since T-5s are shorter then their advertised length I think a 48" is going to be way too short.

I know that ATI doesn't think they can get 80watt ballasts in 110, but Fauna Marin is selling 80 watt fixtures i the US (I'm getting one for my prop tank).

James

Thanks for the feedback, James.

I'm not too familiar with the griplock system - is that easily adjustable for raising/lowering the light for tank maintenance purposes, or should I start to think of another type of system?

You're right, my tank is 60" long (great memory!). The only problem with holding out for a 60" unit is that I'm already waiting months for my current 10-bulb unit, and if I wait for an even later model to arrive, my tank might be up for a full year before it's lit! With a 48" fixture, that would leave 6"+ on either side of the light. I was thinking that one benefit of this would be that there would be less algae growth on the glass with that bit of decreased light intensity on the glass. Additionally, I wasn't planning on having any SPS that close to the glass anyway. Do you think LPS would do OK near the edges and down at the sandbed level if I stick with the 48" unit that I'm waiting for?

Can't wait to see your pics!!!!
