Can I frag photosynthetic sponge in tank?
Hi,
My sponge is attached to a large feature rock that I would really rather not take out, but I'd like to frag it. Can I cut it in tank or will it poison the water? Not finding a clear answer online. Meghan Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |
Yellows are particularly bad about releasing toxins, but they're not the only ones. I would take it out to the qt tank and let it recover, and don't cut it in the tank.

Thanks, mine is a purple photosynthetic plating sponge

Many sponges (I can’t see yours) constantly move waters through their systems, and any disruption (pulling from water) may result in the whole thing dying.
