Looks really nice. I love your little goby - I love those guys. It looks like in the last pictures you added a black background? I really like the way the black brings out the colors of the fish.

yellowwatchmen 10/06/2007 09:36 PM

No, i havent got a background yet. It looks like that because thye wall behind it is blue and my camera makes it look black. I have meant to get a background but every time i go to the LFS i forget.
Yeah the ywg is my favorite also but he is kinda making mad because since i got the tiger pistol shrimp he has been hanging out with it and he wont come out.:mad2:

ClayWagner 10/06/2007 11:03 PM

nice pics...

yellowwatchmen 10/07/2007 12:28 AM

Thanks, they aren't the best but they are the best i can do.

yellowwatchmen 10/08/2007 06:24 PM

So over the last week i have had diatoms like crazy. I will clean the sand off completely white. I get up in the morning still nothing there cuz no light. But when i get home around 6-7 the sand is completely covered. I already raised my flow. With the Korilia Hydor 3. I am redusing my photo period. I am also doing more water changes 5gal every 2 days. I turned up my skimmer. Any other suggestions to get rid of diatoms. May i need new light bulbs?

yellowwatchmen 10/10/2007 06:46 PM

I am thinking about buying a frogspawn from a local reefer. Do you guys think my tank has strong enough lighting for it. And also does any one have any suggestion on how to get rid of the diatoms.

teamdulski 10/10/2007 06:51 PM

You have enough light for a frogspawn, and start using RO/DI water to get rid of the diatoms.

yellowwatchmen 10/10/2007 08:20 PM

I do use ro water i must of forgot to mention that. I have been skimming heavier also.

cd77 10/10/2007 10:18 PM

yellowwatchmen -- I have a similar size Perfecto tank that is currently a planted FW and I'm thinking about switching it to SW. I've bookmarked this thread for inspiration, very nice job!

What size sump/fuge tank are you using?

cd77 10/10/2007 10:22 PM

Also -- what size PVC pipe and drill size holes are you using? This tank really looks sharp! If your design is copyrighted, here's a heads up to phone your attorney because I'm thinking my 40 just might end up looking exactly like yours! ;)

yellowwatchmen 10/11/2007 05:56 AM

The PVC is 1". My sump is a 20long. The drilled hole is one inch in diameter. Have you seen Mr.spiffys thread? Thanks for all the kind words.

Chrisrush 10/11/2007 06:50 AM

Are you sure on those test values? You shouldn't have any ammonia in the tank, otherwise your tank is not fully cycled.

I took those about two days after i added 30 lbs of rock.I think that is what the ammonia is from. I kept the light off all day today to try and kill nuisance algae. And i just got home and the tank is cloudy. Does any one know what would cause this?

yellowwatchmen 10/12/2007 10:56 PM

Well i found my pistol shrimp in my sump today. I have no idea how long it has been ther but it was nice to see him.:D Has any one else had there pistol shrimp wander around there tank. I have just never heard of any one have this happen to them.

Snowboarda42 10/13/2007 12:50 PM

He was probably looking for a new home and ended up in the wrong spot. Was your goby with him? Remember, these shrimp are ~%90 blind...

yellowwatchmen 10/13/2007 04:26 PM

No he was by himself. I think it was because he was mad because i added 30 lbs of live rock about a week after i got him. I also got some new corals today! I got a Finger leather (Sinularia sp.) and some blue centered Zoos. I will post pics tomorrow since they are closed up right now. The zoos probably wont be open for a couple days since i dipped them in some lugol's solution to get rid of any nudis if there were any.

yellowwatchmen 10/14/2007 08:04 PM

Here are the pics of the corals.
Zoos-$30
Leather-$25

The zoos are still not all the away open i took a pic of where some were open. They are mostly blue centered but there is also pink, red, orange, and green. I will get some more pics in a couple days when they are all open.

yellowwatchmen 10/14/2007 08:06 PM

Didn't turn out right. :rolleye1:

yellowwatchmen 10/14/2007 09:34 PM

Oh yeah my bta moved underneith a rock about a week ago and i was hopeing it would come back in the front but it didn't move any. Does any one have any sugestions that might make it move.

Snowboarda42 10/14/2007 10:40 PM

take your powerhead and aim it at the foot of the anemone to help "peel" it off the rock
