grouper ID help
It was labeled a blue-perch groupr. blue with black spots, no teeth, long thinner body. Supposedly stays smaller. Any idea. Google images didnt show it once and its about $200-

It sounds like it is an electric blue grouper that is extremely rare. The LFS that I work at has ordered one for a customer and that is the only time that I have seen one on the list. They are a deep blue with small black bands on it. A picture would really help to identify it.

The Scott Michael volume 2 (page 31) book has the fish I believe you are looking for. I saw one listed as "slender metallic grouper" - or something like that. They come from the Red Sea and are mostly unknown to science and the trade. Anyperodon sp.
