Passer angel help

I have a passer angel held at my LFS. I really like it but am not 100% sure. Does anyone have any opinions on this fish. Thanks

Is it for your 265? I wouldn't put it as a first fish.

Fly 75 01/27/2008 02:09 PM

Yes its for the 265. My concern was rather or not to add the angel as the last fish due to aggresion. Having hard time choosing fish. Seems like its a 10 gallon tank. haha

What other fish are you adding? You definitely want the passer in last. How big is he and how big are your other fish? I have one that is about 6".

take your time thinking about what fish to add. It will save u a ton of money, and frustration. Most of us have spent a small fortune doing this and we still don't listen when someone says not to do it. If i would have read RC before I started i could have bought a corvette by now.

I would shelf teh passer idea until your tank is just about fully stocked.....

You "may" be lucky and get a moderately aggressive one, but you will probably get a typically aggressive one, which will make it diffiult to introduce any medium to large bodied fish such as tangs, butterflies, angels, triggers, etc.

Maybe put together a "maybe" list and shoot it over to us..... we can have a look and give our thoughts.... that will give you a "feel" for te directino you want to go, and a "feel" for when you want to introduce th passer.... if at all......

Personally, while they are one of my favourinte fish (in my top 5) I have never had one because they are just too damn aggressive, get too big too quickly, and make life misery for all other tank mates..... nice fish, but for me, not worth the trade off.

Hey i wouldnt recommed it cauz they are probably the most aggressive angelfish, and if in your LFS it happens to be nice or calm DONT BE FOOLED!!! its bolder over time. If you are going to get it check if it is under 3 inches and if you are going to add more angelfish make sure they are above 4 inches

Plus if you dont mind my LFS has one also and what does it cost in your LFS??

i changed my mind. I want a scribbled angel. well worth the wait and money. we went with a red sea golden b-fly and small powder blue. love them so far. thanks for all your help

Good choice I think. The passer is a good choice if you KNOW exactly what your getting yourself in for and are prepared for it..... but 'if in doubt, let it out' is the best rule of thumb, IME.

Good luck with yoru new tank...... keep an eye on the Powder Blue for ich!

Hi I have a Scribbled and a Majestic together in my 200 gallon. They get along well. The Majestic is a little bigger, and was in my tank first so he did chase the Scribbled for the first week but then they were fine together. Both of these guys only get to 10 inches. If you do a combination like this put the Scribbled in first or put them both in together. Either the same size, or better that the Scribbled is a little bigger as the Scribbled is a very gentle fish and is not as thick bodied as a fish like a Majestic. Lesley
