McCosker and Carpenter Flasher

I'd like to get 2 flasher wrasses, a Mc Cosker and a Carpenter(or filamented). I have read that 2 males would not work together but I have also read that they would be fine. How would a male and a female of 2 different species do? They would also be with a Canary Wrasse and a Mystery Wrasse...

thanks, dave

The mystery wrasse is problematical with flasher wrasses. If that is not there, adding the two different species together should be fine.

ok thanks, now i need to explain to my wife she doesn't get her mystery...

I was thinking of getting a mystery and a flasher....do you know why they don't get along...or why they would be problematic together? Also if you had to choose between the two which one do you like better?

mystery wrasses are known to be aggressive to smaller wrasses like flashers and fairys..if it were me i would get the flasher wrasse but i like flashers and fairy wrasses more not to knock the mystery becuase they are really sweet looking fish but that is my opinon

I would go with the 2 flashers as well. Or a group of one species ( 1 male, 3-4 females)

what about 2 flashers and a fairy? And would they have to be introduced all together? Or can they be put in 1 by 1?

Jason7504 10/10/2009 12:40 AM

yeah i am also wondering if you can put a fairy and flasher together?

Flasher and fairy wrasses do fine together as long as you don't get one of the highly aggressive fairies such as C. scottorum

will flasher and fairy wrasses do good together even if added at different times?

Socially acclimate (breeder cup) the new arrival and all should be well.

I added my flame wrasse long after my blue flasher and there were no troubles. Actualy one of the easiest fish I have ever added (tankmate aggressive wise) She was out within the hour. She now pushes some of my anthias around. I am still thinking about trying a lineatus one more time but am still a little leary since i lost my last 2. Maybe I'll try a rhomboid instead
