Radion PRO vs. Mitras
 

So it has come down to this........

I am having a 50 x 36 x 30 tank built for me and after days and days of reading and reading and reading (lol) I have come to either putting over my tank


3 Radion Pros
or
2 GHL Mitras


What are suggestions and or opinions of this?

What are the benefits/disadvantages of each?

keep in mind, they will cost roughly the SAME amount of money.....

Lets keep this about these two lights only, NOTHING ELSE!

I have the GHL's and love them. THe SPS coral are not effected and love the light output compared to the AI SOL blues which caused them to brown.

I am not familiar with GHL but I do own 4 lights and an MP60 from Ecotech. I had an issue with the lights and the company actually sent me brand new replacement lights (while I still had my original lights) and paid for me to ship my original lights back. They offered to help me get everything setup over the phone and made sure that I was happy. The whole process was actually an amazing experience! Best customer service experience I have had in I don't know how long!!!
For me if all things are equal technically, the customer service of Ecotech sets there company head and shoulders above their competition in my opinion.

I hear great things about both companies so I wouldn't worry about customer service. I have the Mitras and love it. Very easy to program, small and compact , but puts out lots of light. Build quality is superb.

no, unless you run parallels or similar.....

Damn, so i have to buy a cheap PC for my Mitras........I need one for my reef keeper also! Might aswell pull the trigger! lol

If you'll send me a PM I can link you to many SPS keepers who are LOVING the new Mitras. Best of all it's got more coverage and more light channels than the others on the market.

Several Mitras users are MAC users as well and seem to be doing great :)

How are they working the Mitras with a MAC?

doggydoc is an RC member who is running his with MAC. At the same time I also know of a few users who bought an expensive laptop for the same reason.

On the flip side at some point GHL is supposed to be releasing an iOS Ap for iPhone/iPAd but it's still too early to get a date etc.

IME the GHL Mitras are superior in their color rendition and IMO are the best LEDs on the market. I really wanted to go with them for my tank, but cost was a factor. Im using the hyperions which are very close to the Mitras to my eyes. They are bigger so I had less hanging to do, resulting in a cleaner look. I use a Mac for them as well. I know you wanted to keep it between Mitras and pros, so my vote was for Mitras.

I totally agree with you. It would be great to do a search if you got all the information. Negative posts and even whole threads are deleted from a certain forum. I know first hand, I'm banned from posting my experiences with my lights in their forum :)

I have played with both and I would give a slight edge to the PRO, lots of upgrades over the G1 or G2. I never had an issue with the Radion software.

Either way you go you will get a premium light that you will be happy with.

This seems like the verdict. Everyone thinks these are incredible units but the mitras has a slight edge and will cost a few hundred less......huh!

Better Par
Better software
Better customer service

I would love to do this but I don't know anyone around the monmouth county New Jersey area that has either of these lights!!!

Ask in the threads for both types. I spent a lot of time researching my choice and made my choice after seeing productive tanks.

I do not have the Mitras yet, But I do swear on the GHL products.

They had a special On a Mitras and controller at a great discount, not sure if is active still or not.
I would go with the Mitras lights and GHL controller then sell that reef keeper.

You be at the same price with better lights and a much better controller.
