Biocube 29 LEDs
Want more LEDs and the dimmable option for my Biocube hood. I do not want to go rimless. I am leaning towards Rapid LED retrofit kit but wanted to know if anyone has an experience with putting a commercial fixture (Maxspect Razor, Radion, etc) inside a Biocube 29 Hood? It would only be 1-2 inches above the water….
If I go the Rapid LED route this is the setup I am thinking about (W=cool white, RB = royal blue, B = blue, UV = ultraviolet, R = red, G = green): RB W B W RB RB W UV R RB W RB RB W RB G UV W RB RB W B W RB Alternatively, I may just replace the Red and Green with a Warm White or a Neutral White that would include more red and green in their spectrums. It will be controlled with two Mean Well Dimmers on a ReefKeeper Lite ALC module. Thanks. |
I left top open w/ net , AI SOL blue , 10" above from water.
It's awesome. Rapid led is good stuff...if it were me i would skip green and red..stay w cool w, RB and B Good luck :) |
I have Rapid LEDs on my 75 (not a biocube) and I love them. I have seen great growth in my LPS and SPS. I have no complaints about them. I went with a 50/50 look. I put 24 RB and 24 CW. I love it.

I went with rapid LEDs solder less kit for my biocube 29. I went with 12 royal blue, 4 blue, 6 cool whites and 2 neutral whites. Also I got the 4 led moonlight kit with ultra violet. So far i like it alot and the corals seem to love it too.

Sounds great. I was really close to going with Rapid LED and I hear good things about their retrofit kit (also the Canadian distributer Travis at Lucent LEDs was awesome to work with) but in the end I found a used Ecotech Radion that I have mounted inside my Biocube hood and works great. Love it so far!
