Do these salinity probe readings look normal
Never owned one before and not sure if normal apex readings jump around or suppose to stay constant?

Mine - one week old - fluctuate like that, and I don't think it is accurate. My Milwaukee refractometer reads 33, and my probe fluctuate between 31.2 - 32.2.
I think I need to re-calibrate, but I don't have extra solution. |

I think you stare at your probe values too much! LMAO! As for whether they are normal.. Sort of. Your does seem to bounce around more than mine does but it could also be the fact that it's still pretty new. It could also be a case of slight interference from something electrical near by or slight amounts of DC voltage in the tank water. Also keep in mind that conductivity will vary slightly due to temps and other factors. Those variations are in your case are slight enough that they wouldn't even be really noticeable on a refractometer. The Apex uses temp compensastion but that is only a loose guideline and slight variations during the day can be expected. In fact, I would never expect to see a flat line conductivity reading. The CondX probe should only be used as a guideline.
This is mine. It could use a calibration as I havn't touched mine in over a year but it's pretty close to the 1.024 to 1.025 that I run my tank at. Mine only serves as part of my failsafe anyways so I never pay any attention to it. http://i390.photobucket.com/albums/o...psi9mxzavs.jpg |
If you have Jebao's in your tank, I'd bet that is the cause for the erratic lines on condx readings.. Those pumps could be leaking a bit of DC Voltage in your tank or it could just be some other interference like I mentioned above. I certainly wouldn't worry about it though. Those variations in your graph are so slight that it would even read on a refractometer like I mentioned above.
