Please - Pictures of Well-Organized In-Cabinet Apex and Such?
 

I am relatively new to the hobby (the saltwater aspect) and I have an IM Nuvo 40. I recently bought the Apex Gold package, auto-feeder, and various other gadget. However, I am type-A. So . . .

Someone in the compendium of RC had posted pictures of a really well-organized Apex in their cabinet, mounting everything on a white board inside the cabin. Since I "pulled the trigger" on my very own Apex Gold System (and lots of other goodies), I am looking for pictures of well-organized and nicely mounted "gear" inside the cabinet for inspiration as I plan how to organize all the stuff that the I have recently ordered from MD. It has to be done inside the cabinet as I have a soon to be one-year old and I am trying to contain everything.

So, may I impose on anyone who has a nicely organized and mounted system to please post some pictures of the handiwork as it would be, by me, much appreciated. Basically, I am looking for ideas and I think it would be neat to see how everyone organizes all this stuff.

I don't have a controller, so I can't help you specifically with that, and everyone's setup is a bit different, so it depends on your specific setup. Here's a similar thread you can look at:

I've also seen setups that had a separate partition at the end of the stand, maybe 3-4" deep with a door on the end for the controller, etc.

For general cable organization, check out http://www.cableorganizer.com/cable-management/ A lot of the items they have there can be found at Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Monoprice, etc. too.

I remember that whiteboard you're talking about and it is definitely very clean and slick looking. I've always liked to build separate cabinets away from all water that can act as a barrier against spills or floods. I meant to leave myself 12" of width from the end of the tank stand to the wall for the cabinet but for some reason didn't measure until I had 800 lbs of water in my tank (pretty glaring oversight on my part) so I was left with a hair under 9" to work with. I ended up with a cabinet that is about 9" wide and 24" deep, same height as the tank stand. I made the two shelves slide out in front of the stand the full 24" depth in case I needed to mess with my apex, a module, or either of the energy bars.

It took me several hours but I found my original inspiration!

Anyone have any suggestions for improving this type of mounting system?

The only suggestion I can make would be related to your soon-to-be one-year old. Install a key-lock on all cabinet doors to the stand, etc. Kids can get into everything and it would be bad to have your tank killed and horribly tragic to have any harm come to the child.

Heck with improving it, I want that. I wasn't thinking and I mounted all my power bars on the back of the stand then proceeded to place it catty corner against the wall. I have about 5 inches of space to work with in the dark. I'm moving soon so i'll be able to fix it at that point but try not to do what I did. :uhoh3:

will be doing this myself tonight actually. My son left my stand alone completely, his nieces visited for a week and now he is all of the sudden curious... bad habits have been learned.
