RO/Di question

Hey guys,
I was looking at affordable RO/DI units, and I found this 4 stage 50gpd one

Any thoughts?

Id stay away personally, those small size of Carbon and sediment and DI cartridges mean they cant last that long, also maybe a unique size ? I have no experience with the above unit, but I haven't ever really been impressed with the quality of Aquatic Lifes's other products.

I would look into the more standard universal systems like the ones BRS carries, also Air water and Ice units are decent in price and are quality units.

Just my .02

I agree with the really compact ones like that. In the long term it's much better to get the standard 10 inch size filters. Though before you order one, you should ask yourself some questions. Is this for tank only use or will you want to use it for drinking water as well? How large is your tank? How many gallons/liters do you change out when you do water changes? what about your SO? When I purchased my RODI filter at home, my wife decided that we needed to hook it up to the ice maker on the fridge, so I had to retrofit and buy additional bells and whistles. So don't discount your partner.

Just some other stuff to think about.

I had one of those and ended up upgrading to a spectrapure. The aquatic life ro system would eat up di resin extremely fast. It would make about 60 gallons and the di resin would be spent. I bought a tds meter and found the membrane had a rejection rate of about 80%. I would save yourself the time and money and buy a quality unit to start with. Mine was a refurbished unit and you would never know the difference.

You're not saving enough money to make it worth what you give up over getting a good one.

This. Actually the cheap one will cost more in the long run.
