Quarantine Tank (QT) Cost Comparison
I'm about to setup two quarantine tanks and I'm trying to maximize the benefits and minimize the cost.
I've decided to go with the Sponge Filter setup because I think it's cheaper and more effective. Sponge Filter setup:
Notes:
AquaClear 30 setup Total Cost = $30.95 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2 Sponge Filters setup I just need to get an extra air pump for $9.37 Total cost for 2 Sponge Filters = $48.39 Notes:
2 AquaClear 30 setup Total cost = $62 Seeding questions.
With the Sponge Filter setup, I save about $62-48.39 = $13.61. I can easily throw the Sponge and not feel bad about throwing out the AquaClear HOB box. I didn't factor in the common variables like tank, heater, medicine, pvc pipes, etc because that shouldn't affect the cost comparison between the two setups. Pros and Cons? |
I use the aqua clear because I can also run carbon and a ammonia absorber cause I do not cycle my QT......if my QT becomes a Hospital tank, again once I finish meds I can use the carbon to clean up the meds.......
Just a personal thing I guess. The aquaclear I have is more than 20 years old, man these things last forever... |

Just curious. That’s all. Everything across the board for a regular tank is zero. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Have you seen this, with the built in skimmer?
