Only thing I can see is 55 has thinner glass making it harder to drill than a 75..
But I have drilled 20 gallons tank with no issue for internal overflow boxes.
all my breeding tanks were 20's...
Away only the back and front are tempered? Is the bottom?
Have you checked with Aqueon?
