Apex emailing

I was trying to get an email set up with the email service mentioned in the Apex New User Guide, GMX and the website keeps throwing an error when I try to register. Has anyone used this service recently? Also, is there another popular email service that doesnt use SSL and is Apex friendly?

Refer back to the same guide for a list.

Awesome, just downloaded the latest version of the document. If I just register with a yahoo account, the yahoo settings smtp.mail.yahoo.com:587, will work?

You picked the one that is changing unfortunately. Yahoo and AT&T have merged and Yahoo has inherited AT&T's SSL encrypted email. The updates are going to be in the next version of the document and AT&T/Yahoo will be removed as a compatible service to the Apex.

GMX should work though. It's what I use.
