Aquascaping??????????

I want to create live rock pillars for aquascaping. Would nylon rods and glass be okay to use in the aquarium? The glass would be for the base and the nylon rods would be to put the live rock on.
If anyone has pics on how you would do this?

Thanks plateboy3293

I used great-stuff foam and some wire ties. Then epoxied some sand on it.

seemed easier.

Glass seems too fragile for that. Id use eggcrate for the base.

Would zip ties work instead of wire?

Here are the pillars I created using fiberglass rods. Actually the one on the right is no more and a duplicate of the left has been built. But it was easy, just use a rock for the base and drill holes and stack the rock how you want.

indeed, zip ties are what are being referenced. You wouldnt use any metallic wire, but think of "wire tie" as a description of ties that often hold together wiring.

I wouldnt trust glass rods, though. You can get acrylic rods pretty cheap on ebay, a much better idea. I drilled holes through my rock and "threaded" the rocks onto the acrylic rods.

I used cable zip ties to hold together a portion of my rocks.

wire ties = cable ties. Again, multiple ways to do the same thing.

I used zip ties and epoxy around the pvc for my closed loop.
