Question IO Breakout Box and Float Switch hook-up

I can't seem to find any info on how to setup my float switches to the IO breakout box. It didn't come with any directions and nothing at Digital Aquatics web site. Does anyone own this unit and can tell me how to hook it up. I have the Apex and I think it can work 6 float switches.

Yea...I had the same problem. I think that they mislabled the IO breakout or it is a sinking input type....but anyways, you have to hook one end to the GND terminal (the one to the far left) and the other end into whatever input you want to hook it to. Had I designed the breakout, it would have had a GND terminal next to every input, that way you wouldn't need to put multiple wires under the GND terminal.

Chapter 6 in the Handbook has a detailed writeup on the breakout box and programming with switches.

Not really sure. Some manufactures of various electronics might "hide" some sort of feature that is not really for the end user, but they dont want to not include it cause it might provide some kind of benefit to a service center. They make it reserved so that people think that someday, there will be a function.

Agreed. When I inserted two wires in the GND terminal, the plastic thing came off! So I can't imagine how one can put six wires there unless you twist or solder all of them and only allow one wire inserted into the GND terminal.

Very bad design!
