remote LED Driver enclosure.....looking for ideas
Im planning an LED build, and I am slowly gathering all the needed components. I am planning a finished fixture look, we'll see how well i do with it.
Ideally, I want these drivers separate from the fixture, and have them in the basement. I am hoping to have a powermodule type wiring, where all the wires for the lights and fans are run up through one cord. If I could make a disconnectable wiring harness, that would be a huge plus as well. Anyone done anything similar or even just a less fancy driver enclosure? Any ideas are more than welcome ![]()

I use an old computer case for mine. A few case fans keep it cool.

I built an enclosure out of acrylic to house the drivers. I also mounted the dimmer pots to this enclosure. I used terminal blocks for the wiring inside the box and ran all of the power (Driver + Fans) through irrigation system wiring bundle. I found a multi-wire bundle that had 24 - 20 gauge wires running through it. You can then make your disconnects using Sub D connectors from Radio Shack.

![]() Maybe a picture would help. I painted the inside of the box black which gives it a nice finished. My build is a little sloppy since it isn't visible. I also haven’t mounted the terminal blocks yet. You can then either screw the cover plate to the box or use acrylic hinges. |
