170g w/70g sump, extra filtration?

I have two eheim canisters left over from freshwater tanks, any point in piping a 2074 or 2078 to my 75g sump? Aquarium is 170g

I have the idea that if you bought it and the choice is between seeing it gather dust and using it, assuming it can't harm anything, may as well give it a shot. You'll get better water, at best, and not much of a sum gain, at worst, with the canisters.

Minus the electricity cost.

I have a left over fluval 406 so I use it for Carbon and GFO, 4 dual chambers baskets, so carbon > carbon > gfo > pad. Keeps water crystal clear and fishy smell down. Pad on top so I can clean it easy every few days.

On the side pads I use more carbon, I run roughly 4 cups of GAC in it and change out every other month.

Run your input line after your skimmer and socks and pipe return to the first section of sump or to the DT if you want more flow.
