Skimmer Overlowing

My tank has been set up for a little over two weeks now. My skimmer overflows within two min after being turned on. It's in 7.5" of water, gate is open to the max. I read somewhere that new epoxy can cause this. I don't have bubbles anywhere else in my tank either.

Has anyone dealt with this in a new tank, will it go away?

I had this happen with an EShopps hob skimmer. I didn't have the luxury of allowing it to overflow into a sump so I recreated a setup in a bucket within a large Tupperware and let it run run run until it fixed itself.

Yes I think this is common. Some suggest running it in vinegar to get rid of the oils. If it were me I'd let it play out especially if you have nothing in the tank.
