Red Bugs or AEFW?

Have two newish tricolor frags and they have never really colored up the way I would expect. Now they are starting to bleach. Looking very closely, you can see the tinyest redish/orange specks, almost microscopic. I was doing some seaching and found a thread with some awesome close-up pics (which I cant find now) which showed some of the "typical" large/clear AEFW, but also showed some tiny specks like I have observed. The author called them both AEFW's. I was wondering if there was obvious way to tell the difference between red bugs and AEFW?

Thanks

Also, I was going to try a fluke tab dip, but cannot find any locally. I have some old Flatworm exit--- will that work as a dip?

Thanks

FWE will not work on AEFW. not even a little.

I don't have redbugs, but you should be able to tell the differene between a bug with legs and a red dot on top or a flat worm that wiggles around.

with the flatworms you should see little bite marks all over the under side of the coral

no.. fwe exit doesnt kill aefw's.

yopu need tmpcc or coral revive and neither fo those kill the eggs. You really need to do some research and know what to look for as that is the best form of prevention

it does sound like you have red bugs.....or better put....yellow bugs

aefw's are satan. red bugs are pretty easily dealt with as well as do a whole lot less damage.

I wish I could post a pic but my camera and/or myself takes rotton pics. The coral is so bleached at the base I cannot see any tissue damage. I'll try to get a better look with a magnifying glass.

So it's not even worth a dip in FWE?

Here is another that deals with AEFW that I found to be very helpful.
