Nano Protein Skimmer

What do you guys think about this skimmer? I'm looking for something cost effective, but something that works decent. It's going on a 29 gallon tank. I really don't have much to spend, especially if I want to get my RO filter for $100. Should I just save my money and buy a protein skimmer later? Or will this skimmer get the job done?

Thanks.

This one. I guess it's called the Fission Nano-Protein Skimmer. Not sure what make or model or brand name it is. I suppose Fission?

I have no experience with that one, sorry. Perhaps do a search here on RC for that brand.

The Aqua C Remora is the skimmer of choice. But it cost $$$

Hmm. Didn't think about that but I guess you're right. So what's the point of a skimmer again if a water change will take care of it? Does that only apply to smaller tanks?

a 5 gallon water change is perfict for a 20 gallon with no skimmer but that is a 25% water change.
On a 100 gallon tank that is a 25 gallon water change on a 200 its 50 gallons a week

I don't have one, but have heard nothing good about the Fission skimmer. Most seem to consider it a complete waste of money.

I tried it for about a week, the airline is too small you can never get the height right its an absolute waist

I tried to get mine to work for two months on a Nanocube 24, and I was never happy with it. Luckily it was so cheap it didn't hurt much when I gave up and threw it away.

Great reply. I wasn't sure if it was something worth bothering with, and now I definitely know. You get what you pay for.

Thanks a bunch for the helpful advice.
