baby bucket fuge!!!

what does one do with a spare mj 1200, a little bucket, a zip tie, a 1/2" elbow, some spare 1/2" tubing and a 1/2" barb??? oh and about 5 minutes of spare time?

make a baby bucket fuge.

this one doesnt need any uniseals. i just drilled a small hole near the top of the bucket and threaded a zip tie through it to attach my mj 1200 output at an angle to generate my patent pending 'swirl' action that spins chaeto like the thoughts in jessica simpsons head.

first...here is papa bucket swirling a large ball of chaeto in a 5g bucket with 600 or so gph through it (about 120x turnover),

next, i took out the brittle, icky and barely hanging on chaeto i had compartmentalized with eggcrate in my sump for the 110g zoo tank. despite 1000gph through the sump...the flow was a slowish laminar pattern through it. this bundle had taken over a month to grow out and is far from healthy.

it is getting 13 watts of pc light that isnt as close as i like it but will have to do.

here is my 2g baby bucket fuge in the sump for my 110g zoo tank. it is receiving 300gph flow (150x turnover) and the chaeto gets the same spinning action as papa bucket fuge.

not including the pump, the entire thing cost $3.50 (inc tax).

ill post a pic in a couple of weeks to show any growth progress!
